Wings fans… prove it.?
(First of all, I’m a wings fan myself, since the mid 80s.)

Lately I’ve seen a lot of questions and answers involving that the wings will win the Stanley Cup. First of all, I think it’s ridiculous to be assured that ANY team is a sure winner, because of the parity in the NHL, and how crucial momentum and health are for a team. That’s just my opinion.

That being said, I get a lot of thumbs down for my opinions that basically say that the wings won’t make it out of the 2nd round, unless they do something DRASTIC in their strategy.

My question is… I want to hear/read from a wings fan, who can present an argument me w/ SOLID analysis, that the wings have a significant chance to win the cup, and beat strong, currently - peaking teams, by having the same basic strategy as last year.

I have yet to hear any solid analysis. Mostly “teenie – bopper” cheerleading. There are a few wings fans on here who usually have solid analysis (one ironically, named “Wings Fan”, the other Zam.
Haley hit the nail on the head really. Rah, rah, rah for the hometeam but they are a team with many weaknesses. Their argument to that would be to ask how I can possibly say that when their team is 1st overall. You won't get a good analysis because really there isn't one....However, expect the question to get deleted and watch my thumbs down pile up. Funny more than anything.

They will tell you that the Ducks fluked out on a bad call last year, that they don't need to be tough because you have to catch them to hit them and besides that they brought back McCarty and brought in Stuart to take care of that, Datsyuk and Zetterberg's play-off number decline is an anomally etc, etc.
The fact is, they are a good team when healthy and they had a second half drop-off, they will tell you that is because of injuries, which has validity BUT are teams going to go at them not as hard in the play-offs and will they all the sudden be able to avoid injuries. No, quite the opposite, teams will be going at them with more physicality and more guys are apt to hit the IR. They are soft. I can REALLY appreciate when a fan of the team he routs for can see it for what it is. Seems to be a special and rare talent in these parts.
Team Sweden isn't built for a Stanley Cup....they will tell you they have done it before. Yeah, they had Yzerman, Shanahan, the grind line in their primes...also had the tough Russians during some runs (Larionov, Konstantinov etc) So this team is much different. Simply put, they don't have the make up to win the cup.

NOW, that said, I am not saying they can't win the cup, as you said, with parity nowadays, lots of teams can and they "could" remain healthy enough to do it. Just IMO, I think there are other teams out there with less weaknesses. I would not be shocked if they won but I would be mildly surprised.

I was looking at a write-up of early predictions the other day and it had them matched up vs. Vancouver in the 1st round and the writer had Vancouver in 7 with Luongo stealing the show. Now, I don't know if I'd agree with that but if they have to play alot of 7 games series and have to meet up with physical teams like the Ducks, I do not like their chances.

Play-offs are a funny thing...perhaps the Ducks/SJ/ Dallas get knocked off by other teams making their path easier too so who knows. Calgary is another team that would smack them around a bit.

Teams game plans going into the series against them is going to be to take the body to them early and often, even if they take early penalties. It is the key to beating them and they know it. They will neutralize Lidstrom by dumping the puck to his off side on the forecheck, teams have been very successful the last few years by doing this to eliminate Lidstrom's effectiveness.

Then, especially in the play-offs, there is the whole issue with having players who will get into the "difficult areas" of the ice in order to create scoring chances (ie...the front of the opposing net)..........Holmstrom seems to be the only guy on the team that is successful in doing this, especially on the PP and he is battling injury and has a hard time staying healthy, we saw what a different team they were with him out of the line-up last post season compared to him being in the line-up.

I laugh when I hear people say McCarty is the answer. If you are going to rely on a guy who will probably get a few minutes each game, it doesn't bode well. Injuries are not just going to all of the sudden stop. We all know, injuries pile up MORE come play-offs. I question their depth.

Sorry for the anti-analysis of why they will win.
How do I stop cutting?
I guess you could say quite a bit of **** has gone on in my life. I'm not some "teenie" who wants attention. What I want is help. (I see a psychiatrist but she doesn't really help.)
I've been cutting for almost two years now, and I think it's just recently that I've realized I could be, well, addicted? I'm not sure if that's the right word. But for example, the other day I got so frustrated in a lesson in school that I stormed out, ripped up my book and felt the urge to let all my anger out by self-harming. One of my friends ran up to me and asked me about the book though, so I couldn't. Other times I've been in lessons and asked to go to the toilet so I could do so. I can't tell my friends because things have happened in the past and I don't want to make their lives any more miserable. My mother's a drunk most of the time (though she won't admit it) and I don't want to hurt my dad.
I'm just scared I've gotten in too deep, if that makes sense. I think about it almost all of the time, I wear long-sleeved shirts (sometimes underneath short-sleeved shirts, such as my school top). I even made holes in the sleeves to put my thumb through to make sure the sleeve doesn't roll up, because then someone would see. I decided to write here because I had the urge to cut, but realized that I have to stop using that as an escape. But I just don't think I can do that on my own.
Thank you for any help.
Oh, and for people who look at this and think "ha, emo." you can shut up right now because no one's laughing. Well, at least I'm not.
Thanks.
Hmm I suppose you just need to find something that makes you happy. Find a fun hobby or something. I really great hobby and stress reliever is doing some type of martial art. That might sound kinda wierd to you, im not sure, but it really helps me. When I get angry it just feels great to go hit a big punching bag and afterwards I'm happy. But I don't know sorry I can't help very much. :(
I hope all goes well for you though.
